Property Maintenance

 

The Building Department is the office that enforces the Property Maintenance Code (click here for Chapter 306),  which is the law enacted to ensure that an existing structure and its exteriors are maintained in a safe and blight-free manner. Property maintenance violations may include garbage, litter, unsightly buildings, or unregistered or “junk” vehicles.

All reports of alleged infractions made to the Code Enforcement Officer are investigated, and corrective action is taken when justified.


What the Zoning Ordinance prohibits:

Chapter 433-5 B Parking in yard (grass) areas
Chapter 380-15 Hedges/trees obstructing sidewalk
Chapter 386-39 J Sight triangle obstruction at corner
Chapter 355-7 B2 Dual axel/over 9500 lbs/residential parking of commercial vehicles
Chapter 455-12H No outdoor storage
Chapter 455-7B1 Unregistered/abandoned vehicles on residential lots
Chapter 455-23 Temporary storage containers WITHOUT a permit


Property Maintenance Codes require:

Chapter 306-22 Lawns mowed/shrubs trimmed
Chapter 306-7 Cleanup of outside litter/debris
Chapter 380-16A Ice/Snow removal within 12 hours
Chapter 306-7B Exterior house/trim painting/disrepair
Chapter 344-15 Sidewalks/Curbs
Chapter 306-25 Health/Safety/Welfare
Chapter 306-7 Hazardous natural growth
