EAST SIDE of town from Washington Avenue to the Cresskill border is collected on Tuesday and Friday - Click below for East Side Map.


WEST SIDE of town from Washington Avenue to the New Milford border is collected on Monday and Thursday - Click below for West Side Map.

 
Garbage/Recycling Holiday Schedule

If a holiday falls on your regular garbage pick-up day, garbage will be picked up the next scheduled day.

New Year's Day - Saturday, January 1
President's Day - Monday, February 21
Memorial Day - Monday, May 30
Independence Day - Monday, July 4
Labor Day - Monday, September 5
Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 24
Christmas Day - Sunday, December 25

 

May a resident throw out appliances and metals?

No, they will not be collected by the contractor, however, they MAY be brought to DPW yard during regular business hours or put out for metal pickup.


The following items WILL NOT be collected by DPW or a private contractor of the Borough of Dumont:

  • Construction debris
  • Cabinets
  • Formica
  • Sheetrock
  • Shingles
  • Wood
  • Lumber wood fencing
  • Flooring
  • Windows
  • Concrete
  • Pavers
  • Asphalt
  • Roofing
  • Siding
  • Doors
  • Bath & kitchen fixtures

Recycling Collection Schedule


When is recycling picked up?

Recycling items are collected town-wide every Wednesday, on an alternating schedule.


How should a resident throw out their recyclables?

  • Put their recyclables in a proper container for pickup.
  • Secure their paper and cardboard in a way as to keep it from blowing away on windy days.
  • Wash/rinse all recyclable containers.
  • Bottle caps and can lids should be discarded.
  • Use brown bags, a laundry basket, corrugated box, or milk crate for paper recycling.


What items are acceptable?

Bottles and Cans: Aluminum and tin cans, mixed colored glass, bottles and jars, plastic bottles, dishwasher bottles, detergent bottles.

Mixed Paper: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, telephone books, soft cover books, corrugated boxes (please flatten).
