Dumont Providing Free Garbage Lids To Address Rodent Control

The Borough of Dumont recently worked with Viking Pest Control in an effort to stem the increased presence of rodents as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Viking has set up bait stations and smart (Wi-Fi) rodent boxes throughout the borough. Viking will come to the borough once per week to maintain the bait stations and boxes.

While the Borough of Dumont will continue to do everything possible to address this issue, tackling the rodent problem will be a community effort. We respectfully remind residents that all garbage awaiting curbside pickup must have a lid and be properly covered. To help our residents in this effort, The Borough of Dumont has ordered lids for garbage cans that have been purchased from the Borough to be provided to residents at no additional cost. Those lids can be picked up at the DPW office (1 Aladdin Ave) between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Residents should check their calendars to confirm their bulk garbage pickup dates to avoid any confusion to alleviate any problems. Viking Pest Control also advises residents that they should not feed birds using bird feeders, and they should not feed squirrels in their yards.

Together we will address this as a community.
